2015

During the year of 2015, Luciano Trovato had an urging idea to start a high quality rental karting championship and started to post about it on social media. Raoul Leckie saw this, quickly joined the team and a the idea was becoming a reality; 2016 should be the first ever Formula Karting season..

2016

The very first race of Formula Karting was at the beautiful venue of Karting Eupen. 23 drivers had registered for a whole season of racing, 10 races total. As it was the first season, the organization learned a lot every race and they were determined to develop throughout the seasons to establish Formula Karting as a platform as much drivers as possible to drive a championship for a low price but with a high quality. All races this season were only directed by one person: Bas van Osta!

2017

After a successful 2016, Formula Karting tried to separate the championships into two divisions, but failed. This resulted into one bigger championship consisting 33 seasonal drivers. For the calendar, the organization chose a lot of new tracks in order to develop further. Also, a whole new team of race directors was assigned: Gregory Laporte, Sverre Zielman and Mellanie Motz.

2018

2018 Was the year where Formula Karting successfully divided the drivers into two championships: FK1 and FK2. Both divisions were full and had space for 24 drivers. This meant the 2018 season started with a whopping 48 seasonal drivers! Formula Karting was starting to make a name for itself in the Belgian and Dutch karting world. This was also the first season where Formula Karting implemented a ‘reward system’ in FK1, where a total of €2.750 would be given back to the top-10 of the championship!

2019

2019 Had some big changes in store: the implementation of the national championships ‘Formula Karting Nederland’ and ‘Formula Karting Belgium’, and the introduction of a special championship for younger, less heavy drivers: ‘Formula Karting Lightweight’. All championships were capped at 16 seasonal drivers, which resulted in a total of 72 seasonal drivers at the start of the season! In order to be able to keep the races well directed, Erik van der Hoogen joined the team!
